This piece is to die for! It has it all, including highly UV reactive! A natural combination of blue and black tourmaline (indicolite), quartz, calcite, and muscovite. Specimens like this, featuring multiple minerals, are often sourced from pegmatite mines in regions such as Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Mineral Characteristics
Blue Tourmaline (Indicolite): The blue, prismatic crystals are a variety of tourmaline known as indicolite.
Quartz: The large amount of white, crystalline material surrounding the other minerals is quartz.
Calcite: Some specimens from these regions also feature dogtooth calcite (calcium carbonate) mixed into the matrix.
Muscovite: The flaky, pearlescent material, which appears brownish or silvery-white, is a type of mica called muscovite.
