Chalcedony stalactite, often referred to as Chalcedony coral stalactite due to its formation and appearance.
Composition: It is composed of chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline variety of silica, meaning it consists of very tiny quartz crystals grown together.
Formation: These formations occur in caves, similar to traditional stalactites, but are specifically formed from silica-rich waters depositing dissolved minerals. In some cases, they can form as pseudomorphs after fossil coral heads.
Appearance: The image shows a raw, rough form of this crystal, characterized by its textured, elongated, and often hollow-tube-like structure, sometimes described as "druzy" due to its crystalline surface. This piece is highly UV reactive!
